Plaid, Fashion Trend For 2011
Plaid, Fashion Trend For 2010
This year has been all about plaid. There’s been everything from plaid shoes to plaid scarves in almost every color of the rainbow. But what can you do with plaid? Well, there’s loads of things! Plaid shirts have been around for the longest time—it’s only recently it’s been making a huge fashion statement. From blouses to tank tops, plaid has been in this year.

However, on one hand, there’s also a line between what counts as too much plaid or not quite enough. Here are a few tips to find out.
When it comes to plaid, you don’t want to wear a whole outfits worth of plaid. That is way too much, even if your outfit matches down to the exact pattern of plaid and colors.
A few options are:
One article of clothing. It can be either shorts or pants or a shirt or blouse. Make sure that your other articles of clothing are neutral colored or something that goes with the main colors in your plaid clothing.
A few accessories. Make sure that there aren’t any more than two accessories and that they match in color and pattern (some plaids are smaller and more intricate than others). An example would be a plaid bandana and perhaps plaid shoes. It’s not too much and not too little.
Also keep in mind that you should not mix patterns. Zebra stripes don’t go well with plaid and neither do any other prints. Remember to keep it simple when mixing and matching your clothing as well.
Buying Shirts for Your Little Girl 2010, 2011
Buying Shirts for Your Little Girl 2010, 2011 Tips
Clothing your little angel can be quite a task. Sometimes you put her in something super cute and adorable and then you wonder why exactly she starts getting upset and doesn’t want to wear it. However, you may want to look into what exactly you’re putting on her. Sometimes the cutest things are consequently the most uncomfortable.

1. Necklines. Different kids like different necklines. Some shirts, however, have the bad habit of having a much too high neckline. This can chafe and feel really scratchy against your daughter’s neck and make her not want to wear it. If she is tugging at the neck of her shirt, or begs not to wear that shirt, then you may want to look at the neckline. Most of the time, you can easily adjust it and resew the neckline much farther down to make it more comfortable for her.
2. Length. A shirt that is way too long and she finds herself sitting on can also be annoying, unless it is made to be sat on (for example, a tunic shirt). It might pull the front up or cause the sleeves to pull at her arms. The solution is to either get rid of the shirt, or make it a little bit shorter.
3. Long sleeves. Then there’s always that one long sleeve shirt. You put it on her and she starts wiggling, trying to get away. Maybe it’s that it’s too hot, or perhaps it’s something else. Maybe the sleeves are twisting up. Depending on the size of the shirt, it can be more or less difficult to untwist the sleeves to make her comfortable. Slightly baggier shirts are a little bit easier to fix.
Keep in mind that this is all based on preference. What may not bother one girl may drive another crazy.
Makeup Does Not Have To Be Inexpensive, 2010 & 2011 Tips
Makeup Does Not Have To Be Inexpensive
You hear all about these palettes of makeup that cost thirty dollars for four colors. It turns out to be a lot smaller than what you expected, doesn’t last long on your eyelid, and you hate the colors. But the thing is—you don’t have to deal with expensive eyeshadows and glamorous, overrated lipsticks. It’s just a matter of finding something inexpensive and worth your money.

One thing to keep in mind is that less expensive eyeshadows don’t have as much pigmentation—but that doesn’t mean that you can’t figure out a means of using this to your advantage.
How? PRIMERS! Eyeshadow primer, face primer, and various other types of primer are a great way to make your makeup pop without having to spend a bundle. There are plenty of ways to get your makeup to last.
Eye primers can get a bit expensive—but that’s another story. You can take advantage of samples and use alternatives. Some are: chapstick (this honestly doesn’t sound like a good idea, but it is worth a shot), concealer, Milk of Magnesia (for those with oily eyelids. If you don’t have oily eyelids, steer clear.), Vaseline, and even an Elmer’s glue stick (also not recommended) or you can find a cheap but good primer for only a dollar or two. Some eyeshadows come with primer, depending on what you buy. Keep in mind that these are usually tiny.
Face powder is also a cheap makeup primer. It doesn’t last too long, but it does help a lot.
Also, use the proper brushes when applying your makeup. Brushes normally only cost a few dollars and some come with your kits. For eyeshadow, especially, try and find a good brush instead of the applicators that come with the makeup. You may not get as much color pay off the second you apply the makeup, but as you apply a little bit more at a time, you can layer it as dark or light as you want.
Oh Those Handbags, Compartment Syndrome
Oh Those Handbags, Compartment Syndrome
We have all been there. A purse is a very personal and important part of a girl’s life. We toil and agonize over our next “everyday” purse purchase. Our eyes glisten and our mouths salivate over the snips, clips, zips, pockets and pouches. The lining must be soft but supple. The straps must be the perfect length. Not to mention it has to just look cute.

So what’s with all the pockets and spaces and specially designated spots? They sucker me in every time! I look at my new potential shoulder buddy and I imagine how it will change my life. It has a spaces especially designed for my cell phone, mp3 player, pens and makeup. I could be the empress of organization! The contessa of clutter! All I have to do… is buy it.
Three months later, those pockets that once beckoned their promises of a better life are brimming with wrappers, receipts, ticket stubs and tampons. My cell phone? My mp3 player? Lost in the abyss of my life. Buyer’s remorse sets in and I realize that I am indeed a sucker for pockets.
After a self-intervention I said no more! I scoured department stores and designer boutiques with one goal in mind. No more compartments! After weeks of searching, I found a simple and stylish shoulder bag with just enough space for all my essentials. Instead of a compartment for the larger bulkier items, I purchased an additional wristlet to hold those little items that used to tinkle and jingle in every nook and cranny. The result? The simplicity and organization I have searched for my entire a life.
Bold Eye Makeup Tips 2010 & 2011
Bold Eye Makeup Tips 2010
Eye makeup is a very touchy subject. Some say to go bold and bright while others suggest a more muted look when it comes to eye matters. It’s all a matter of perspective and what you would like to choose personally.

Bright colors aren’t just for rave girls and the young at heart. A more mature woman can pull off the colors with the right effort. There are a few things to keep in mind when doing so, however.
First of all, make sure that you have a decent eye primer. An eye primer makes it easy to apply your eyeshadow without worrying about creasing. It also brightens the color. There are several types of eye primers on the market. The main thing to remember is that they can get quite expensive. However, you can also try concealer as an alternative until you find an eye primer. Also try to take advantages of any samples that you can get your hands on. Why? Well, just because one primer works for you doesn’t mean it will work for another lady.

Secondly, your eyeshadow should NEVER match your outfit. Try and go for neutral colors such as white, grey, or black. You might have a few matching accents. If you’re the type to wear broaches, then your broach could match or your earrings or a necklace bracelet. Maybe your shirt could be along the same color scheme, but the rest of the outfit should be muted.
Eyeliner can be bold too! You don’t have to use plain black eyeliner—maybe you would rather use bright eyeliner instead! If you do choose to do bright eyeliner, you may want to opt for a neutral shadow. Or you can do both! It’s up to you!
Choosing Accessories for Every Outfit, 2010 & 2011 Tips
Choosing for Every Outfit
One problem with choosing accessories is finding something that goes with every outfit that you have. Here are a few tips to spice up your outfits using accessories and for choosing the perfect accessories year round.

One thing to keep in mind when choosing accessories is that if you want them to go with almost anything, you want them to either be neutral or to have a lot of different colors in them so that they match almost anything.
For example, say that you had a choice between three necklaces. One is a pretty black necklace with a turquoise drop, the other is a soft brown leather necklace with amber drops and the last is a pink bead necklace.
Based on these choices, your best bet would be the leather necklace. Not only is the necklace itself neutral, but so is the amber. You can easily pair the necklace with other neutrals or blues or purples, or almost anything else that you would like.
Now, on the other hand, say that you had a green bead necklace and a rainbow necklace. Which would you choose?
The obvious option is the rainbow necklace. You are then able to pair it with any color or neutral that you wish, without the added problem of trying to match it.
However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t buy necklaces that follow one color scheme—keep in mind that if your wardrobe follows a certain color scheme (say you look amazing in blue and so three-fourths of your wardrobe is blue), then you can purchase jewelry in that color scheme, or something close like purple or green. It’s all based off the color wheel—all it takes is a little bit of imagination and thought on your part.
