Why clean them?

Chances are you will have different shades of makeup, so when you change from one to another you may just end up with a whole new color altogether. These brushes can also harbor bacteria, which can lead to breakouts. Cleaning your brushes will keep them in good working order and it will make them last longer so you won’t have to keep buying new ones.
How to clean them
All you need to clean your brushes is warm, soapy water. Try using an antibacterial soap to get rid of the bacteria. Leave them to soak for a while, shape them while they are still damp and allow them to dry. If you do need to get rid of excess powder then do so gently. Scrubbing the brushes will damage them and eventually cause them to fall out and lose their shape. Lipstick brushes are a bit harder to clean because it ends up stickier than the rest of the lot. There are usually special cleaning solutions for this available at the cosmetics store.

DO buy lipstick that advertises its ability to be fully applied in two-three coatings. Also, DO run your finger outward with your lips around it after applying to bring off any excess that always strays to the teeth, to avoid embarrassing situations and not-so-subtle hints from strangers.
