Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Singles in Antique Jade Review

I hadn’t done much with makeup in the last year. I might throw on a bit of powder, maybe a bit of lipstick and eyeliner, but eyeshadow was out of the question. However, I have started up again and one color that caught my eye recently was Antique Jade. At first, I was looking for makeup from L’Oreal’s HIP line, but I was a bit scared to try a pigment. I have noticed that when I’m scared to try something, I generally find a product I love instead. And this time was no different.

“Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow”

First of all, I am frightened of green eyeshadow. It looked like something that I wouldn’t be able to wear. When I took the risk, I discovered this:

You need a base for this eyeshadow. It doesn’t have to be a good one—my L.A. Colors Liquid Concealer works just fine. Otherwise, you end up with creasing, transfering (I ended up with a bald patch on my eye. It was rather bizarre.) upward, and just looking funky.

You can also layer it as thick or as thin as you want. I use a makeup brush instead of the applicator (it went straight in the trash can.) and one swipe is kind of a mint green with almost no shimmer. This being a high-pearl eyeshadow, I was kind hoping for a wee bit more. So I added a little bit more. Not quite there. One or two more swipes gives me a shiny, almost june bug look. I loved it. But it wasn’t quite right. So I took some Night Sky and used that in the crease and blended well. I loved that even more!

In short, I will be buying this again. It’s a great fix for if you use a little bit too much black eyeshadow (Guilty!) and want to brighten it up. All you have to do is pack a little bit on top and voila. No more “Got in a fight” look!
